Summer Reading Programs
Research shows that students who do not read during the summer suffer a reading loss. Summer reading loss can be prevented if students read every day for 15 to 20 minutes per day. There are a variety of programs available to help students with summer reading.
- Reading Skills Program is offered by the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education. This program offers individualized instruction on phonics, comprehension, fluency, textbook study skills, speed reading, and love of reading.
- The Georgia Department of Education has partnered with myON Reader to provide free access to over 5,000 book. To get started visit myOn.com, click on the Log in now button, and enter the following credentials. School Name = Get Georgia Reading, Username = read, Password = read
- The Ocmulgee Regional Library System offers e-books through Georgia Download Destination. You must have a library card to access the available books. To access the books visit Georgia Download Destination, click Sign In, choose Ocmulgee Regional Library System from the library list, and then enter your library card number and PIN. If you do not have a library card then you can visit the Telfair County Library to obtain one.
